Victoria WorkCover weekly payments calculator

Use the 95% first-period or 80% second-period PIAWE rule with your current earnings. This tool covers the first 130 weeks only. Amounts are in AUD.

First 13 weeks: min(95% of PIAWE, maximum) minus current earnings. Weeks 14–130: min(80% of PIAWE, maximum) minus 80% of current earnings. Results have a floor of zero; eligibility rules still apply.

Estimated weekly wage-loss benefit

A$950.00

Formula percentage: 95%

No statutory maximum entered. This figure is before the cap and may exceed the payable benefit.

Standard weekly payments only, through week 130. Overtime/allowance exclusions and later-period entitlement require a separate assessment. This figure does not include an impairment benefit, common-law damages or a settlement.

Victoria’s standard weekly payments use 95% of PIAWE in the first 13 weeks and 80% in weeks 14–130. Apply the statutory maximum to this base before subtracting current earnings: in full in the first period and at 80% in the second. Use the adjusted PIAWE and verify entitlement. Payments after 130 weeks and permanent impairment benefits require separate assessments.

This tool estimates selected wage-loss benefits only. It excludes permanent disability awards, medical care and settlements. Verify eligibility and the earnings decision with the responsible agency.

Formula and earnings basis

Examples assume eligible earnings of 1,000 and no current earnings. Australian examples are before a statutory maximum; Canadian examples assume board-adjusted net earnings. These are weekly benefits, not settlement values.

Benefit calculation questions

Does this calculate a settlement?
No. Weekly wage-loss benefits are different from permanent impairment awards, medical coverage and any settlement. This tool does not combine them into a settlement price.
Which PIAWE should I enter?
Use the earnings basis in the WorkSafe or agent decision for the selected payment period. Overtime and shift allowances can be excluded after the applicable period, so a payslip alone may not be enough.
Are the current earnings deductions the same in both phases?
No. First cap the relevant percentage of PIAWE at the statutory maximum. The first-period formula then deducts current weekly earnings in full; the second-period formula deducts 80%. WorkSafe also determines eligibility and work capacity.
Do you save the earnings I enter?
No. The calculator runs in your browser. You do not need an account, and you should not enter a name, claim number or personal medical records.
Which rules should I verify before using the result?
Check the earnings assessment, applicable benefit period, statutory maximum and minimum, work capacity and the official claim decision. The responsible agency determines eligibility.
